Chamber Music

Merel has a lot of experience playing Chamber Music. She has played regularly with musicians such as Ties Mellema, Maria Milstein, Remy van Kesteren, Ketevan Roinishvili, Dana Zemtsov, Jennifer Hughes, Jenna Sung, Tobias Borsboom, Uxia Martinez Botana, Michael Gieler, Anton Spronk, and many others. Her current ensembles are mostly based in The Netherlands. She also enjoys leading ad hoc ensembles.

trio42: harp, violin, sax

SONY DSCtrio42 is an innovative Dutch chamber music ensemble. In the unique combination of harp, violin and saxophone, the three musicians give a refreshing boost to chamber music with passion, joy and exciting interaction. trio42 performed at most of the Dutch festivals and also toured internationally. trio42 recently accepted two new members: Juan Manuel Dominguez on saxophones and Anneleen Schuitemaker on harp.

Duo with piano

Merel has a duo with London-based pianist Jenna Sung, who was identified by Gramophone Magazine as “The Talent of Tomorrow – Today“. Merel and Jenna recorded Debussy Sonata for Kawai International.

Recently, Merel also started a duo with Russian pianist Dina Ivanova, prize winner of the 2017 International Liszt Piano Competition in Utrecht. Dina and Merel will record a cd for Gutman Records which will be available from Spring 2019. The repertoire includes works by female composers Poldowski and Mathilde Wantenaar, and the famous violin sonata by Cesar Franck.
